Fw: Piano lessons

This came in in 'Rich Text' with one part or two words per line. Thankfully my
slow and weak machine automatically changed it to 'Plain Text' when I called
for a 'Forward'. I guess it decided if the change was going to be done, it might
as well get into the game. Bob

Piano lessons

TRUE STORY...PLEASE DO NOT DELETE,RETURN IF YOU CAN'T
FORWARD TO AT LEAST ONE PERSON!!!

At the prodding of my friends I am writing this story. My name is Mildred
Honor. I am a former elementary school music teacher from Des Moines, Iowa.
I have always supplemented my income by teaching piano lessons... something
I have done for over 30 years. During those years, I found that children have
many levels of musical ability, and even though I have never had the prodigy, I
have taught some very talented students. However, I have also had my share of
what I call 'Musically Challenged Pupils'.
One such pupil being Robby. Robby was 11 years old when his mother (a
single mom) dropped him off for his first piano lesson.
I prefer that students (especially boys) begin at an earlier age, which I explained
to Robby. But Robby said that it had always been his mother's dream to hear him
play the piano, so I took him as a student.
At the end of each weekly lesson he would always say 'My mom's going to hear
me play someday.' But to me, it seemed hopeless, he just did not have any inborn
ability. I only knew his mother from a distance as she dropped Robby off or waited
in her aged car to pick him up. She always waved and smiled, but never dropped in.
Then one day Robby stopped coming for his lessons. I thought about calling him,
but assumed that because of his lack of ability he had decided to pursue something
else. I was also glad that he had stopped coming. He was a bad advertisement for
my teaching!
Several weeks later I mailed a flyer recital to the students' homes. To my surprise,
Robby (who had received a flyer) asked if he could be in the recital. I told him that
the recital was for current pupils and that because he had dropped out, he really did
not qualify.
He told me that his Mother had been sick and unable to take him to his piano
lessons, but that he had been practicing. 'Please Miss Honor, I've just got to play,'
he insisted. I don't know what led me to allow him to play in the recital - perhaps it
was his insistence or maybe something inside of me saying that it would be all right.
The night of the recital came and the high school gymnasium was packed with
parents, relatives and friends. I put Robby last in the program, just before I was to
come up and thank all the students and play a finishing piece. I thought that any
damage he might do would come at the end of the program and I could always
salvage his poor performance through my 'Curtain Closer'.
Well, the recital went off without a hitch; the students had been practicing and it
showed. Then Robby came up on the stage. His clothes were wrinkled and his hair
looked as though he had run an egg beater through it. 'Why wasn't he dressed up like
the other students?' I thought. 'Why didn't his Mother at least make him comb his
hair for this special night?'
Robby pulled out the piano bench, and I was surprised when he announced that he
had chosen to play Mozart's Concerto No.21 in C Major. I was not prepared for
what I heard next. His fingers were light on the keys, they even danced nimbly on the
ivories. He went from pianissimo to fortissimo, from allegro to virtuoso; his suspended
chords that Mozart demands were magnificent! Never had I heard Mozart played so
well by anyone his age.
After six and a half minutes, he ended in a grand crescendo, and everyone was on
their feet in wild applause!!! Overcome and in tears, I ran up on stage and put my
arms around Robby in joy.
'I have never heard you play like that Robby, how did you do it? Through the
microphone Robby explained: 'Well, Miss Honor, remember I told you that my mom
was sick? Well, she actually had cancer and passed away this morning. And well...
she was born deaf, so tonight was the first time she had ever heard me play, and I
wanted to make it special.'
There wasn't a dry eye in the house that evening. As people from Social Services
led Robby from the stage to be placed in to foster care, I noticed that even their eyes
were red and puffy. I thought to myself then how much richer my life had been for
taking Robby as my pupil.
No, I have never had a prodigy, but that night I became a prodigy ... of Robby.
He was the teacher and I was the pupil, for he had taught me the meaning of
perseverance and love and believing in yourself, and may be even taking a chance on
someone and you didn't know why.
Robby was killed years later in the senseless bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah
Federal Building in Oklahoma City in April, 1995.

Thank you for reading this... !! May God bless you today, tomorrow and always.

Fw: i`m mad

This from Jim Solomon, 'nuf said'?

I've heard friends and also mass media announcers say;
"I'm mad that our government didn't act sooner."
=================================
I've seen that on quite a few posts and on many news stations.
It's a thinly veiled accusation that Trump didn't act quickly enough.

Well I'm mad too.

* I'm mad that Pelosi and the U.S. House wasted close to 3 months pursuing
an obviously futile impeachment of the President.
* I'm mad that Pelosi sat on those very impeachment papers for 28 days
before sending them on to the Senate.
* I'm mad that the Senate was shut down for 21 days in January and early
February dealing with Pelosi's impeachment, thereby leaving Trump to deal with
Covid alone, with no support from either the House or Senate.
* I'm mad that the day the President closed travel to and from China, Chuck
Schumer declared the action "racist".
* I'm mad that 28 days after the travel restriction, Nancy Pelosi, downplaying
the severity of the virus, begged people to visit Chinatown in San Francisco,
again playing the race card.
* I'm mad that Pelosi swooped in at the last hour of the stimulus package,
adding things that were pure politics and had nothing to do with the dire
circumstances at hand.
* I'm mad that the Obama administration didn't replenish the National
Medical stockpile of masks after the H1N1 virus scare.
* I'm mad that there are top doctors and experts in many fields having to
waste their time at daily press briefings just so the "media" can pester them
with gotcha questions that they think might be their ticket to a Pulitzer.
* I'm mad that Pelosi is now talking about an investigation into Trump's
handling of the Covid crisis. Every day, every turn, every word, every breath
since before he was elected, President Trump has been attacked, mocked,
accused and belittled by Pelosi and her gang.
(And don't even get me started on the media.)

So there it is…… I'm mad as hell that our country is going through this
and petty bickering from the left won't even stop for people who are dying
while our economy is imploding.
Hey Nancy, why don't you man up and stand side by side with the
President to work through this mess?
American citizens need to see "all" of Washington working together and
your mob are infuriatingly absent.
I'm mad about that too . If you are also ticked off, pass this message on.
If each of us pass this message on to 3, 4 or 5 people ... we'll get the job
done before Mother's Day!
Oh yeah, and just remember that if Trump and Pence were to die from
the virus, she would be your President.

Let that sink in...!!

Fw: World War II Trivia - Gasoline

This seems to be an accurate account of numbers. Mr. Sperling was appointed
U.S. Attorney for E. OK district (Muskogee) by PRESGWB-43 at his inauguration
in 1981, is now "retired". I belive him, from experience, completely. Thanks Shelly!!

Of the 16 million Americans who served in World War II, more than 400,000 died during the war.
At the end of the war, there were approximately 79,000 Americans unaccounted for. This number
included those buried with honor as unknowns, officially buried at sea, lost at sea, and
missing in action.
The article states that "100,000 Americans died in the skies over Europe." There's no way that
number is anywhere near accurate. Of course, the point of the article relates to gasoline
octane, but the actual numbers of U.S. Combat Dead by Theater of war: Europe–Atlantic 183,588
(Army ground forces 141,088, Army Air Forces 36,461, and Navy/Coast Guard 6,039); Asia–Pacific
108,504 (Army ground forces 41,592, Army Air Forces 15,694, Navy/Coast Guard 31,485, Marine
Corps 19,733). Shelly

It has always puzzled me as to why the German Luftwaffe kept on using 87
Octane Aviation Gasoline while the Americans and British used 100 Octane
Gasoline in their Spitfire Fighters and Americans used 130 Octane in our P-51 and
other fighters. This is a declassified article by the British Society of Chemists
(Declassified in 2014).It seems that the German and British aircraft both used 87
Octane Gasoline in the first two years of the war. While that was fairly satisfactory
in the German Daimler-Benz V-12 engine, It was marginal in the British Rolls-Royce
Merlin XX engine in British aircraft. It fouled the spark-plugs, caused valves to stick,
and made frequent engine repair problems. Then came lend- lease and American
aircraft began to enter British service in great numbers. If British engines hated 87
Octane gasoline, American, General Motors Built, Allison 1710 engines loathed and
despised it.
Something had to be done!Along came an American named Tim Palucka, a
chemist for Sun Oil in their South East Texas Refinery. Never heard of him? Small
wonder, very few people have. He took a French formula for enhancing the octane
of Gasoline, and invented the " Cracking Tower " and produced 100 octane aviation
Gasoline. This discovery led to great joy among our English Cousins and great
distress among the Germans.A Spitfire fueled with 100 Octane gasoline was 34 miles
per hour faster at 10,000 feet. The need to replace engines went from every 500 hours
of operation to every 1,000 hours. Which reduced the cost of British aircraft by
300 Pounds Sterling . Even more, when used in 4 engine bombers. The Germans
couldn't believe it when Spitfires that couldn't catch them a year ago started shooting
their ME-109 E and G models right out of the sky.Of course, the matter had to be kept
secret. If the Germans found out that it was a French Invention, They'd simply copy the
original French patents. If any of you have ever wondered what they were doing in that
3 story white brick building in front of the Sun Oil Refinery on Old Highway 90, that
was it. They were re-inventing gasoline. The American Allison engines improved
remarkably with 100 Octane gasoline, but did much better when 130 octane gasoline
came along in 1944. The 130 Octane also improved the Radial Engine Bombers we
produced. The Germans and Japanese never snapped to the fact that we had re-
invented gasoline. Neither did our "Friends" the Russians.
100,000 Americans died in the skies over Europe . Lord only knows what that
number would have been without "Super-Gasoline". And it all was invented just a
few miles west of Beaumont , and we never knew a thing about it.

the legal and chartered name of the political party now under the control
of the C/F/S movement has no "ic" in it, it is "DEMOCRAT" PARTY.

A Great Video
Folks,
Here's a great video of WW II flying--Enjoy!!
Jerry
Amazing story/film - you will enjoy this!

Great Story !!
An 18 year-old just out of high school was trained to take pictures of damage
done to German targets by B-17's. He flew in a British Spitfire fitted with extra
fuel tanks where the guns were. In other words, he flew over Germany unarmed…

WWII American Spitfire Pilot…
This is probably one of the best WWII film clips out there. Stored for 61
years in two suitcases of 16mm home movies that were inherited by filmmaker
William Lorton from his great uncle who served as a Flight Surgeon. Those
suitcases contained 3 hours of war footage that included a compelling crash
landing of a Spitfire in 1944
Filmed in a 2005 interview with the then 83 year old pilot and seeing the
expression on his face when he realizes it is him in the cockpit, is something
you won't soon forget.
At 18 years old, he was all alone, behind enemy lines, with no guns, no
escort, and he gladly did it.
They just don't make them like that anymore. It was truly the greatest
generation and we owe them so much.

Have a BLESSED EASTER
What a beautiful way to start Holy Week:

How the Virus Stole Easter
By Kristi Bothur
With a nod to Dr. Seuss 😊

Twas late in '19 when the virus began Bringing chaos and fear to all people,
each land.
People were sick, hospitals full, Doctors overwhelmed, no one in school.
As winter gave way to the promise of spring, The virus raged on, touching
peasant and king.
People hid in their homes from the enemy unseen. They YouTubed and
Zoomed, social-distanced, and cleaned.
April approached and churches were closed. "There won't be an Easter,"
the world supposed.
"There won't be church services, and egg hunts are out. No reason for new
dresses when we can't go about."
Holy Week started, as bleak as the rest. The world was focused on masks
and on tests.
"Easter can't happen this year," it proclaimed. "Online and at home, it just
won't be the same."
Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, the days came and went. The virus pressed
on; it just would not relent.
The world woke Sunday and nothing had changed. The virus still menaced,
the people, estranged.
"Pooh pooh to the saints," the world was grumbling. "They're finding out now
that no Easter is coming.
"They're just waking up! We know just what they'll do! Their mouths will hang
open a minute or two, And then all the saints will all cry boo-hoo.
"That noise," said the world, "will be something to hear." So it paused and the
world put a hand to its ear.
And it did hear a sound coming through all the skies. It started down low, then
it started to rise.
But the sound wasn't depressed. Why, this sound was triumphant! It couldn't
be so! But it grew with abundance!
The world stared around, popping its eyes. Then it shook! What it saw was a
shocking surprise!
Every saint in every nation, the tall and the small, Was celebrating Jesus in spite
of it all!
It hadn't stopped Easter from coming! It came! Somehow or other, it came
just the same!
And the world with its life quite stuck in quarantine Stood puzzling and puzzling.
"Just how can it be?"
"It came without bonnets, it came without bunnies, It came without egg hunts,
cantatas, or money."
Then the world thought of something it hadn't before. "Maybe Easter," it thought,
"doesn't come from a store. Maybe Easter, perhaps, means a little bit more."
And what happened then? Well....the story's not done. What will YOU do?
Will you share with that one. Or two or more people needing hope in this night?
Will you share the source of your life in this fight?
The churches are empty - but so is the tomb, And Jesus is victor over death,
doom, and gloom.
So this year at Easter, let this be our prayer, As the virus still rages all around,
everywhere.
May the world see hope when it looks at God's people.
May the world see the church is not a building or steeple.
May the world find Faith in Jesus' death and resurrection,
May the world find Joy in a time of dejection.
May 2020 be known as the year of survival,
But not only that - Let it start a revival.

Subject: Fwd: Could It Happen Here?

Can this country learn something from Italy's experience?

Did it seem strange that the "WuHan Virus" first appeared in Northern Italy? It
did to me. I would expect it to first surface in a "Pacific Rim" location. For example,
Japan, Philippines, or even San Francisco or Los Angeles. But close to the Italian
Swiss border ? To my mind, that just didn't seem to be the most likely spot...
Well, here is how it happened,...and more importantly, could this happen in America?

ITALY'S COMMUNIST RECIPE FOR DISASTER
Published March 24, 2020 | By Giacomino Nicolazzo
Giacomino Nicolazzo is one of Italy's most beloved writers. Born and raised in
Central Pennsylvania, he lives in a small village in Lombardy where he writes his
books. Montecalvo, Lombardy, Italy. As I sit here in my involuntary isolation, it was
just reported that overnight 743 more people died and 5.249 new cases have been
reported. This brings the total cases of infection to 69,176 and the body count to 6,820.
We take relief in knowing that 8,326 people have recovered so far. (Numbers as of
3/24, 8:30pm in Italy.)
Most towns here in Italy, from the upper reaches of the Alps to the ancient shores
of Sicilia and Sardenia, while not deserted, are closer to being ghost towns than the
bustling centers of tourism, business and daily life they were just a few weeks ago.
Stores and shops have been shuttered. Restaurants and coffee shops no longer serve
customers. Schools, universities, sporting arenas…even our museums and theaters…
all closed. Even the Vatican City has closed its gates and armed patrols monitor the
20 foot tall walls that protect it!
Streets and roads are now empty for as far as the eye can see. Normally they
would be filled with crazed Italian drivers in tiny cars and
scooters (the ones that
sound like demonic insects) darting here and there, reaching the limits of centrifugal
force on our roundabouts. In the piazze of our towns and cities, there are now
officially more pigeons than people.
Many of us know someone who has been infected and recovered. Some of us
know someone who did not recover…now they are dead. But everyone knows
someone who has been affected by this microscopic monster in one way or another.
Sixty million of us are in lockdown…it is like a war zone here. We are being held
prisoner in our own homes by an unseen enemy that sneaked in unnoticed…by
most of us. As you will read in just a few more minutes, there were those who
knew something like this was coming…or at least they should have.
So who is to blame? With all this craziness swirling like a whirlpool at our feet, I
just had to find the blame answer. And so I have spent my free time (of which I
have a lot in these days) digging and researching. I was literally shocked to discover
how this has come to be. I am not going to bore you with talk of Patient '0' who
spread it to Patient '1' and how mathematics efficiently explains the rapid expansion
of infection. No…I am going to tell you how (as I see it) the virus came to Italy
It has everything to do with communists and how they getting their "hands around
the throat" of every nation they can with a false currency, meanwhile they steal the
real assets . Allow me to explain: Beginning in about 2014, Matteo Renzi, the
imbecile ex-mayor of Firenze (Florence) acting as the leader of the Partito
Democratico (synonymous with the Italian Communist party), somehow managed to
get himself elected as Italy's Prime Minister. To give you a proper frame of
reference, Matteo Renzi was so far left, he would make Barack Obama look like
Trump!
At the same time that Renzi was leading Italy into oblivion, strange things were
happening in Italy's economy. Banks were failing…but not closing. Retirement ages
were being extended…for some reason the pension funds were dwindling or
disappearing The national sales tax we call IVA (Value Added Tax) rose from 18%
to 20%, then to 21% and again to 22%. And in the midst of all this financial
chicanery, the Chinese began furiously buying up Italian real estate and businesses
in the North.
Now the reason I mention Renzi and the Chinese together is that strange things
were also going on between the governments of Italy and China. A blind eye was
being turned to the way the Chinese were buying businesses in the financial,
telecommunication, industrial and fashion sectors of Italy's economy, all of which
take place in Milano. To be brief…China was getting away with purchases and
acquisitions in violation of Italian law and EU Trade Agreements with the US and
the UK…and no one in either of those countries (not Obama in the US or
Cameron in the UK) said a thing in their country's defense. As a matter of fact,
much of it was hidden from the public in all three countries.
In 2014, China infused the Italian economy with €5 billion through purchases of
companies costing less than €100 million each. By the time Renzi left office (in
disgrace) in 2016, Chinese acquisitions had exceeded €52 billion. When the dust
settled, China owned more than 300 companies…representing 27% of the major
Italian corporations. The Bank of China now owns five major banks in Italy…all
of which had been secretly (and illegally) propped up by Renzi using pilfered
pension funds! Soon after, the China Milano Equity Exchange was opened and
much of Italy's wealth was being funneled back to the Chinese mainland.
Chinese state entities own Italy's major telecommunication corporation (Telecom)
as well as its major utilities (ENI and ENEL). Upon entry into the telecommunication
market, Huawei established a facility in Segrate, a suburb of Milano. It launched its
first research center there and worked on the study of microwaves which has
resulted in the possibly-dangerous technology we call 5G. China also now owns
controlling interest in Fiat-Chrysler, Prysmian and Terna. You will be surprised to
know that when you put a set of Pirelli tires on your car, the profits are going to
China. Yep…the Chinese colossus of ChemChina, a chemical industry titan, bought
that company too!
Last but not least is Ferretti yachts…the most prestigious yacht builder in Europe.
Incredibly, it is no longer owned by the Ferretti family. But the sector in which
Chinese companies invested most was Italy's profitable fashion industry. The Pinco
Pallino, Miss Sixty, Sergio Tacchini, Roberta di Camerino and Mariella Burani
brands have been acquired by 100%. Designer Salvatore Ferragamo sold 16% and
Caruso sold 35%. The most famous case is Krizia, purchased in 2014 by Shenzhen
Marisfrolg Fashion Company, one of the leaders of high-priced, ready-to-wear
fashions in Asia. Throughout all of these purchases and acquisitions, Renzi's
government afforded the Chinese unrestricted and unfettered access to Italy and its
financial markets, many coming through without customs inspections.
Quite literally, tens of thousands of Chinese came in through Milano (illegally) and
went back out carrying money, technology and corporate secrets. Thousands more
were allowed to enter and disappeared into shadows of Milano and other
manufacturing cities of Lombardy, only to surface in illegal sewing shops, producing
knock-off designer clothes and slapping 'Made In Italy' labels on them. All with the
tacit approval of the Renzi government.
It was not until there was a change in the governing party in Italy that the sweatshops
and the illegal entry and departure of Chinese nationals was stopped. Matteo Salvini,
representing the Lega Nord party, closed Italy's ports to immigrants and systematically
began disassembling the sweatshops and deporting those in Italy illegally. But his rise
to power was short-lived. Italy is a communist country…socialism is in the national
DNA. Ways were found to remove Salvini, after which the communist party, under
the direction of Giuseppe Conte, reopened the ports. Immediately, thousands of
unvetted, undocumented refugees from the Middle East and East Africa began pouring
in again.
Access was again provided to the Chinese, under the old terms, and as a
consequence thousands of Chinese, the majority from Wuhan, began arriving in Milano.
In December of last year, the first inklings of a coronavirus were noticed in Lombardy…
in the Chinese neighborhoods. There is no doubt amongst senior medical officials that
the virus was brought here from China.
By the end of January 2020 cases were being reported left and right. By mid-
February the virus was beginning to seriously overload the Lombardy hospitals and
medical clinics. They are now in a state of collapse.
The Far-Left politicians sold out and betrayed the Italian people with open border
policies and social justice programs. One of the reasons the health care system
collapsed so quickly is because the Renzi government (and now continued under the
Conte government) redirected funds meant to sustain the medical system, to pay for
the tens of thousands of immigrants brought in to Italy against the will of the Italian
people. If you remember the horrible earthquake that decimated the villages around
Amatricia, in the mountains east of Rome in 2015, you would also remember how
the world responded by sending millions of dollars to help those affected.
But there is a law in Italy that prevents private donations to charitable Italian
organizations. All money and donations received must be turned over to a government
agency, who in turn is to appropriate the funds as needed. But that agency is corrupt
just as are all the others. Most of the money never reached a single victim in the
mountains. The Renzi government redirected the vast majority of those funds to pay
for the growing immigrant and refugee costs.
As the economy worsened under the burden of illegal immigration, compounded
by gross government spending and incompetence, unemployment rose quickly…
especially among young people. The unemployment rate for men and women under
age 35 is close to 40%. So more money was diverted from the health care system
and used to pay what is known here as guaranteed income. Whether you work or
not you are paid here, especially if you belong to the PD! The government simply raises
taxes on those who do work.
Let me give you a quick example of the height of insanity to which Italian taxation
has risen. If you live in a building that has a balcony or balconies…and any of those
balconies cast a shadow on the ground, you must pay a public shadow tax! I will say
no more! The point I am trying to make here is that not only did the Chinese bring
the virus to Italy (and the rest of the world) it was far-Left politics and policies that
facilitated it.
This should hopefully be a warning to Americans that while they work to rid
themselves of the China Virus, they should just as vehemently endeavor to rid their
government of any politician that circumvents the Constitution and ignores the laws
of the land…plain and simple.

Fw: Remembering Tom Coburn, a Man of Integrity

The words are accurate, Dr. Tom was considered to be a good friend, not seen
enough, but who always was friendly and affable to me, even when making me the
but of a joke!!

Subject: Fwd: Remembering Tom Coburn, a Man of Integrity

The reason people like Tom Colburn are few and far between is why we must
be distrustful of all politicians:

Tom Coburn, a Man of Integrity
Jim DeMint <https://www.nationalreview.com/author/jim-demint/>March 31, 2020 4:27 PM

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) speaks during a hearing on border security by
the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Capitol
Hill in 2014. (Joshua Roberts/Reuters)
His achievements stemmed from his deep faith and solid principles.
The word "integrity" has two meanings. The first is the quality of having good
values and morals. The second is the quality of being whole and uncompromised.
My friend Tom Coburn, who died this past weekend, embodied both.
Tom was a good senator and a good congressman — and a good physician
and a good husband and friend — because he was a good man. Every facet of his
life was defined by his integrity.
In my years in politics, I never met anyone who took his oath of office more
seriously than Tom Coburn. To Tom, the oath wasn't a bunch of ceremonial words
you say before you get on with the real work of politics. He understood that
obedience to the oath is the real work of politics.
According to the oath, a public official's first duty is neither to his party nor to
his ideology, nor even to his constituents. His oath is to the Constitution itself: its
institutions, its rules, its principles.
In Washington, this approach to politics made Tom a curiosity, even a nuisance.
It never occurred to the party leaders he so often rankled that the real problem might
not be him, but them.

Some of his detractors — pork-barrel politicians and their K Street funders,
mostly — nicknamed him "Dr. No." But they misunderstood. Elected officials who
take their oaths of office seriously — left, right, and middle — have to vote no, and
often, because the Swamp has so warped federal policy and institutions. During Tom's
tenure in Congress, saying yes to the oath of office meant saying no to Washington.
When Tom first raised red flags about Congress's addiction to earmarks —
special spending provisions inserted into legislation at the explicit direction of individual
members — leaders in both parties, to say nothing of the media, laughed at him.
He didn't mind. Tom Coburn understood that for outsiders, to win the fight, you
first had to win the argument.
Year after year, bill after bill, he showed that earmarks were corrupt and
corrupting. They warped Congress and empowered insiders and influence-peddlers
at the expense of the public. Projects such as the notorious "Bridge to Nowhere" not
only wasted a lot of money; they also covered up even more, because once members
got their own personal teaspoon of Swamp water into a bill, party leaders became
free to pour in gallons more without losing any votes. Every year, he and his staff put
out an exhaustive report on dumb, abusive programs — the annual Waste Book.
Soon after Tom won the argument, he won the fight. Congress banned earmarks,
in large part because of the grit and intelligence of one man.
And what a man.
For as great as Tom Coburn's legacy was as a legislator, even that was dwarfed
by his legacy as a person. When the Ethics Committee told Congressman and then
Senator Coburn that conflict-of-interest rules prevented him from continuing with his
obstetrics practice, he started seeing his patients free of charge. During his long career
as a physician, Dr. Tom Coburn delivered more than 4,000 babies. He served
countless of those and other kids as a regular Sunday-school teacher at his church.
Tom Coburn's life is a testament to the power of personal integrity, and his
integrity was as fixed as the North Star because it was built on his faith in Jesus. Tom
was a great example to me as a legislator, but an even better example of how to be a
cheerful warrior while sharing the love of Jesus. He changed Washington, and made
the world a better place, through the simple but extremely difficult work of being a
good man. And I'm quite sure he recently heard the words from his savior, "Well done,
good and faithful servant."

Fw: 10 Commandments to the Jews

HOW MOSES GOT THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

(Received by Email 2008/04/22 from Bob Vassar)

One day GOD went to the Arabs and said: "I have some commandments for
you that will make your lives better"

The Arabs asked: "What are Commandments?" The Lord said: "They are
rules for living" Arabs asked: "Can you give us an example?"..."Thou shall not kill".
"Not kill? We're not interested".

So HE went to the Blacks and said: "I have some Commandments". The
Blacks wanted an example, and the LORD said: "Honor thy Father and Mother".
"Father? We don't know who our fathers are. We're not interested"

Then HE went to the Mexicans and said: "I have some Commandments".
The Mexicans also wanted and example, and he LORD said: "Thou shall not
steal". "Not steal? We're not interested".

Then HE went to the French and said: "I have some commandments".
The french also wanted and example and the LORD said: "Thou shall not
commit adultery". "Not commit adultery? We're not interested".

Finally HE went to the Jews and said: "I have some commandments."
"Commandments?" They said, "How much are they?" "They're free".
"We'll take 10".

"There, that should about offend just about everybody"
