VIEW FROM HERE

TEACHER UNION STRIKE Week of 2018/04/16
As this is begun the 'walkout'/strike called by the NEA/OEA, and apparently
endorsed by a majority of school boards and superintendents, has entered into the
second week of disruption of the 'people's business in the State Capitol. Numerous
reports indicate that outside the State potential rioters have been brought in to, in my
opinion, bring major pressure on legislators to 'steal' more of the population,
'taxpayers', money for bloated and, again my opinion, overpaid and overstaffed school
administrations. Particularly true in the larger districts such as Tulsa Public Schools
where the Superintendent is reportedly paid more than the Governor. This seems
improper to me, that any government employee be paid more than the State Chief
Executive.
As each day goes by with most schools in the State closed, and even teachers
and students wanting to be in class 'locked out' by the order of the School Board
members, many preplanned functions and travels for the rest of the Spring appear to
be in jeopardy for students and families. Also some seniors have run into problems
with not being able to finish entrance examinations necessary for admission to
universities of choice. That information came from at least one parent concerned over
the problems being faced by a child. Certainly there are numerous other issues being
effected by this 'totally illegal' strike, called 'walkout'.
The thing that bothers me even more is the apparently eager cooperation on the
part of the management of the participating districts and their school boards. Also
entering into the picture is the reported participation of outside the State individuals
and groups. Some of these could very well be of a more nefarious ilk there for the
purpose of disruption and disturbance. There have already been a few reports of
such actions going on, to the point that the Capitol security removed the legislature
staff 'for their own protection' at least one day. Also it seems that those in the
House chamber on the first day were so disruptive of the proceedings that it was
necessary for the chair to order the galleries cleared by security.
Further down the road, the main morning talk show host here played excerpts
from the cable networks, supporting the C/S movement that indicated to me the
whole thing was set up by them and the Democrat Party management to, they hope,
wreck destruction on the PRESDT-45 administration and the mid-term elections.
One statement that stood out to me was to the effect that the walkouts were taking
place in all the 'red states', which of course includes Oklahoma.
That suggested to me that this whole mess has been developed by the
Democrat National Committee leaders and Congressional leaders in order to, they
hope, have an effect on the outcome of the mid-term Congressional elections, as well
as some local State elections this year. It wouldn't surprise me to find that to be the
case, since individuals of the C/S mentality seem to have little regard for any people
except for themselves and the power they can gain over the rest of us "deplorables".
Frankly, the actions of some school district leaders in shutting the whole district down
and, I have been told, even refusing to allow teachers in their district who want to
onto the properties.
The presence of outside troublemakers was indicated, in my opinion, even
before showing up in daily news(?)papers as being existent by the rude, inconsiderate,
and even threatening actions that were taken in the Legislature chambers, at least the
first day. Those individuals guilty of disrupting the regular conduct of Legislative
business should have been removed AND incarcerated. Unfortunately, I have come
to expect that inaction on the part of 'law enforcement' in the Capitol City. Thankfully
there have not been reported instances of law enforcement being ordered to "Stand
down" like was done in Baltimore MD and in Missouri. Those were disastrous there
and for the rest of us.
